ICT Definitions

Some important definitions:
Internet:
The Internet is world wide system of computer networks i.e. "network of networks" that consists of millions of smaller domestic, academic, business,
government networks, which together carry various information and services, such as email, online chat, file transfer, search for information,
eCommerce, online payment etc.,
Web Browser:
A web browser is a software application that enables a user to display and interact with text, images, videos, music and other information typically
located on a Web page at a website on the World Wide Web or a local area network.
ISP:
An Internet service provider (ISP) is a company that offers its customers access to the Internet.
IP Address:
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical identification (logical address) that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network
utilizing the Internet Protocol for communication between its nodes/ computers. Example of an IP address, it appears like 208.77.188.166
IP Address Spoofing
In computer networking, the term IP (Internet Protocol) address spoofing refers to the creation of IP packets with a forged (spoofed) source IP
address with the purpose of concealing the identity of the sender or impersonating another computing system.
E-mail Spoofing:
E-mail spoofing is a technique commonly used for spam e-mail and phishing to hide the origin of an e-mail message.
Phishing:
Phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by
masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
Computer Virus:
Computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without the permission or knowledge of the owner.
Computer Worm:
A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computers on the network) and it
may do so without any user intervention. Unlike a virus, it does not need to attach itself to an existing program.
Spyware:
Spyware is computer software that is installed surreptitiously on a personal computer to intercept or take partial control over the user's interaction
with the computer, without the user's informed consent
