Valued at Indian Rs. 650 million (US $14.8741 million), the Umbrella Order have been placed on BHEL by Essar Group for supply of
about 400 H-Compact Motors and 250 Line 7 Motors to Essar with delivery starting from November this year. The customer has once again reposed confidence in BHEL’s proven technological excellence and capability in executing projects of this magnitude. BHEL’s

BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology for manufacture of HT Motors up to 28000 kw rating and has the capacity to manufacture 1500 machines per year. The company has an investment plan of Indian Rs. 1340 million (US $30.5951 million) for modernization of production and testing facilities .
Having demonstrated its track record successfully, BHEL is now dispatching first lot of 400 kw HT Motors for Essar Steel Plant in a
record time of four months from the receipt of the order. In a simple function, first consignment was flagged off and documents
were handed over to C. B. Meshram, General Manager (CDC) by A. K. Sinha, AGM (IMM) in the presence of R. Krishnan, General Manager
(TPTN), S. R. Prasad, General Manager (EM) and Deendayal, General Manager (CC, CMG & CDC). Prasad also mentioned that about 100 Motors are in different stages of manufacturing and will be supplied by December this year. Manufacturing capacity of motors will be increased to 2250 Motors per year by December 2009 to meet the challenge of motor business-growth.
Riding high on its dominant domestic position, BHEL is taking long strides to become a major global player in the field of HT
Motors also by enhancing its presence in international market. It has identified overseas business as one of its thrust areas as part of its
Strategic Plan 2012 and the company is targeting a six-fold increase in its physical exports by 2012. (pervezbari@eth.net)
