MP government transfers 23 officials
BHOPAL, OCT 20, The Madhya Pradesh Government has transferred 23 officials,
including an IAS officer, following clearance from the State Election
Commission, official sources said today.
Among the transferred are an IAS officer, 17 Additional Collectors, three
Joint Collectors and two deputy collectors, they said.
The officers have been directed to assume new charge by October 22, sources
added.
These officials were posted in their present place for last three years or
more following which they were transferred.
The EC's clearance for the same was necessary in view of the enforcement of
model code of conduct following declaration of Assembly polls to be held on
November 25.
CEC to review Assly poll preparation
Bhopal, Oct 20: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalswami would take
stock of preparations of Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls here on October 23. In
a review meeting here, Gopalswami would take information from all the
divisional commissioners, collectors, Inspector Generals of police (IG),
Deputy IG and superintendents of police about the preparation regarding
election and accordingly would issue orders, State Election Office sources
said here.
In this regard, chief election official JS Mathur discussed on all the
important issues with all the district collectors through video conferencing
yesterday. Election Commissioner Navin Chawla and YS Qureshi may also arrive
here, sources added.
A notification would be issued on October 31 about the polls to be held in the
state in 230 Assembly seats in one phase on November 25.
Poll team to enforce code at block level
Bhopal, Oct 20: The Election Commission has decided to deploy a three-member
enforcement team at block-level for strict enforcement of model code of
conduct to ensure free and fair elections for the Assembly in Madhya Pradesh
and four other states.
The model code of conduct enforcement squad will comprise officials other than
revenue and police personnel, Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer JS Mathur
told here.
Mathur said generally officials from police and the revenue department played
an important role in enforcing the model code of conduct but for the first
time the officials from other department also be deployed for a smooth conduct
of polls.
He said vehicles and other facilities would be provided to the enforcement
squad so that it could inform senior officials regarding poll code compliance
within time. Members of the enforcement squad would be appointed by the
district electoral officer, he added.
