Over
2000 career counselors to guide students in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal, January 16 (Pervez Bari): In a major initiative to help school
students know about career prospects the Madhya Pradesh Government is
going to organise a massive week-long campaign to provide career
guidance to about ten lakh students from January 27 to February 2. If
need is felt it may be extended.
Being organised in deference to the desire of the Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Minister for Education Mrs. Archana
Chitnis, the campaign will commence on January 17-18 at Bhopal. The
state government has decided to deploy fully trained career counselors
to guide students of 10th and 12th classes during the campaign. Under
this, subject experts will impart training to over twenty five hundred
career counselors at the College of Excellence on January 17. Mrs.
Archna Chitnis will inaugurate the career counselors orientation and
training programme at 11 am. Vinay Sahastrabudhe, Director General of
Ram Bhau Mhalagi Prabodhini, Mumbai will preside over the function.
Mrs. Chitnis would release Career Sopan-1 at the function to be
attended among others by Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and
Directors of Higher Education, School Education and Technical
Education. A cultural programme would also be organised at 6 in the
evening for the career counselors the same day.
Over two thousand career counselors from all higher secondary schools,
colleges, polytechnics, and schools run by tribal welfare department
will participate in the two-day training programme. They would, in
turn, provide career counseling to the students at the camps in all
313 blocks from January 27 on the lines of metro cities.
Over 120 resource persons will impart the training in 39 rooms of the
College of Excellence. Elaborate arrangements have been made for this
by higher education department.
Meanwhile, Career Sopan Part-1, to be released by Mrs. Chitnis on the
occasion, would be provided to all career counselors. One copy each of
the book would be supplied to all educational institutions of the
state for library use.
Career Sopan Part-1 contains latest information about career
opportunities in various fields. Information with relevant pictures
about career activities organised in government colleges, higher
secondary schools, technical institutions and the schools run by
tribal development department has also been published in the book.
It may be mentioned here that Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the
country where useful information about career is being published
through Swami Vivekanand Career Guidance Scheme to help students
choose career as per their inclination and aptitude. Six career
guidebooks have already been published under the scheme.
The information contained in Career Sopan Part-1 includes the
formalities to get different scholarships, how to get foreign
fellowships etc. It also contains information about various
competitive examinations including AIEEE, IIT, PET, MPPMT, CPMT, CA,
ICDA, ICFAI, FAI. (pervezbari@eth.net)
