Don't air grievances in public, Naidu tells BJP workers
May 14, 2008, Bhopal: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M. Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday warned party leaders and workers against airing in public their grievances and views on the party's internal matters.
"Do not air views on internal matters in public. If you have any suggestion, discuss it with the leaders and at the proper party forum," Naidu said at the inaugural session of the party's two-day Madhya Pradesh state executive meet here.
"Also, let the people in the government and the party form a separate team and evolve a programme to visit all districts to review fulfilment of promises made during last elections and speed up the implementation of those which were yet to be attended," he said.
Naidu, who is also the Madhya Pradesh election in-charge for the party, asked the party workers to launch a campaign on the Congess-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
"The development works done by the state government on one hand and failures of the UPA government and discrimination towards the state on the other should be the thrust of our campaign," he told the party leaders attending the meet. (IANS)

Congress demands Chouhan's resgination
May 14, 2008, Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress Tuesday staged a day-long sit-in to protest what it called corruption in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and demanded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation.
Addressing a gathering here, state Congress president Suresh Pachauri said the people of the state were suffering for want of electricity and water while Chief Minister Chouhan was busy making announcements only to cover up his government's failures.
"For the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh, an FIR (first information report) has been registered against a chief minister on the directives of the Lokayukta (Ombudsman). Besides, his eight cabinet colleagues are also facing inquiry by the Lokayukta. As such, Chouhan should resign on moral grounds," Pachauri said.
Pachauri said the BJP government had failed on all fronts, including power supply. He also alleged large-scale corruption in the construction of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
A congress delegation led by Pachaouri submitted a memorandum to the state governor in the evening after the sit-in and demanded appropriate action against the chief minister and the ministers facing inquiries. (IANS)
