Govt. committed to maintaining peace & amity, says CM
Bhopal, July 5 (Pervez Bari): The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya
Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State
Government is committed to maintaining peace and amity and
safeguarding interests of all sections.
In a statement here today, the Chief Minister said that the officers
of Indore district have been directed to take strict and impartial
action to maintain law and order and to deal firmly with the elements
out to disrupt peace.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the people not to lend credence to
rumours and foil the designs of those seeking to vitiate the climate
of peace and goodwill in the state.
The Chief Minister said that the situation in Indore is fully under
control. He said that certain people want to take political advantage
out of the situation. Such people can never be well-wishers of the
people.
It may be pointed out here that Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, (MPCC),
president Suresh Pachauri while demanding a judicial probe into the
violence that occurred during the BJP-VHP sponsored "Bharat Bandh" had
charged that the violence was Government-sponsored.
Pachauri taking exception to Chief Minister Chouhan's statement said
it further lends credence to our suspicion. Chouhan, according to
Pachauri, had said, "It (violence) was bound to happen after what the
Jammu and Kashmir Government did". (pervezbari@eth.net)
