National Shooting Ball Championship on cheerleaders mode in MP
Bhopal, Jun 4 : Inspired by the Indian Premier Leagues much-debated cheer leaders concept, first time Madhya Pradesh is going to introduce cheer girls as part of moves to add glamour and entertainment to the game in three-day 27th Senior National Shooting Ball Championship 2007-08 slated here on June 6.
''IPL proves that cheer leaders are good in grabbing attention and commercialising the sport,'' said Shooting Ball Association of Madhya Pradesh President Ajay Gupta in a press conference here today, adding that the work of cheer girls was to boost the confidence of players.
He said that decent local cheer girls would cheer the players in the championship's last day in which about 400 players from 31 teams of men and 14 teams of women category would play in the day-night matches at local Gyan Ganga International Academy.
''From 26 championships Madhya Pradesh bagged the crown 11 times and the Association organised shooting ball championship third time in the state,'' said Mr Gupta, adding that Rs 11,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,500 would be provided to the first, second and third winner team while utility prizes and trophies would be given to individual players in both category.
