Pachauri
finds helping hand in Scindia
Bhopal, May 09: In the election bound state, PCC Chief Suresh Pachauri
has found a helping hand in Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Two
months ago, when Pachauri had assumed office, it seemed that Madhya
Pradesh was his own battle field. And no other senior leader was ready
to join hands with.
Union Minister Kamal Nath having several official commitment, busy in
departmental works and most of the time abroad. However, he had
managed to campaign in Betul by-election in favour of Congress
candidate. It is otherwise that his efforts did not turn fruitful.
Similarly, Union Minister Kantilal Bhuria is also engaged in official
responsibilities. Another Union Minister Arjun Singh is unable to
visit Madhya Pradesh due to his health problems. In past one year, he
has occasionally visited his home state. Similarly, former Chief
Minister and AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh is unable to
concentrate more on Madhya Pradesh, as he is in charge of Uttar
Pradesh and he has to remain there.
Even former PCC Chief Subhash Yadav is away from the state, as has
been given responsibility of campaigning in Karnataka assembly
elections. Another senior party leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi, who hails
from Chhatarpur and a Rajya Sabha Member from Uttarakhand, is
shouldering responsibility of AICC Spokesman. On the other hand,
Scindia, despite being Union Minister of State for Communication and
Information Technology, continues to devote time for the state. Time
and again he has reiterated that he is committed for the development
of Madhya Pradesh. He has always been with the Madhya Pradesh
Congress, no matter, whether it was led by former president Subhash
Yadav or present chief Suresh Pachauri.
Several times, he shared dais with Subhash Yadav in the programmes
orgnaised by MPCC. His presence in state capital on Friday also
witnessed his working along with PCC chief Pachauri. Scindia has been
playing a bigger role by being consistent. Gwalior by-election was the
first time when it was Scindia versus Scindia, when he campaigned
against his aunt Yashodhara Raje Scindia. It was a whole-hearted
campaign. The outcome did not favour him or Congress, but it did not
dishearten him. Later, he campaigned for Shivpuri by-election, which
bore fruits. It has been witnessed that after becoming minister or
AICC office bearer, the leaders keep themselves away from the state,
but for Scindia development of Madhya Pradesh seems to be better
engagement.
