Popular Front demands
re-investigation of blast cases
Bhopal, November 23 (Pervez Bari): The National Convention convened by the
Popular Front of India at the India International Centre has demanded the
Central government to re-investigate all cases of bomb blasts in India since
1992.
The resolution adopted at the end of the convention observed that the recent
dreadful revelations about the role of Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh, (RSS), and
other “Sangh Parivar” outfits and a section of the military, police and
intelligence agencies Malegaon and Modasa bomb blasts have made a fresh probe
necessary.
The role of Hindutva outfits and their collaboration with the officers serving
and retired from Indian army in planning and execution of bomb blasts are now
exposed. The investigating agencies have revealed that the blasts in Nanded in
Maharashtra, Thenkasi in Tamil Nadu, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Kannur in
Kerala which had either killed RSS men or damaged their own offices were planned
and executed by themselves with the heinous motive of putting the blame on
Muslims in order to flare up communal tensions. Also there are clues about the
“Sangh Parivar” connection in other blast incidents like Hyderabad, Ajmer,
Makkah Masjid and Samjhauta Express happened during the past couple of years.
This turn of the whole scenario clearly points towards the real network of
terrorism in India.
The Convention observed that the reported role of intelligence officers and
military personnel in planning and executing bomb blasts and terror attacks
which were used as tools to marginalize and terrorize Muslim community is very
disturbing. They have created a network within army, police and intelligence
agencies with those officers who were recruited after giving training in their
military schools. Since the real culprits are now booked in at least a few
cases, the convention demanded that all Muslims illegally detained on that
account to be immediately released with payment of adequate compensation.
Popular Front General Secretary E. M. Abdul Rahiman chaired the convention. Dr.
John Dayal was the moderator. He stated that what has now been revealed about "Sangh
Parivar" is not something new, but a continuation of its agenda from its very
inception. Dr. Shamsul Islam of Delhi University while initiating the discussion
said that RSS is the fountainhead of political terrorism in India and it dates
back to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Sardar Patel in February 1948 sent
a letter to Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in which he wrote that RSS
and Hindu Mahasabha are responsible for the killing of Mahatma Gandhi.
Shyam Chand, ex-cabinet minister of Haryana, has said that RSS was inspired by
Hitler and Mussolini and they did not participate in freedom struggle. Senior
advocates of Supreme Court Dr. K. S. Bhati, Bahar Barqi and Mohsin Yesraeli also
participated in the discussion. Others who spoke on the occasion included A. R.
Agwan, Dr. Anwar-ul-Islam and Dr. Ubaidul Aleem.
Abdul Rahiman while concluding the session expressed the hope that public
opinion has to be strengthened throughout the country in order to put pressure
on the government for re-investigation of the blast cases. (pervezbari@eth.net)
