Five-year blueprint
to be chalked out for Madhya Pradesh’s development
Bhopal, December 26 (Pervez Bari): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan has instructed to chalk out by March 2009 a five-year blueprint and
action plan for mobilising additional resources.
Chouhan was addressing the first meeting of the working groups constituted for
effective implementation of seven priorities of the state government at
Mantralaya, the state’s secretariat, here on Friday. Chief Secretary Rakesh
Sahni and senior administrative officers manning the working groups were
present on the occasion, an official Press release said.
Chouhan said that the working groups should include private experts as well as
learned people for increasing their efficiency and dexterity. He said that if
need be help of state-level, national and even international experts can be
sought.
It was also decided at the meeting that an empowered committee will be
constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chouhan for final
decision on all the agriculture-related issues.
Chouhan said that the seven priorities of the state government viz.
infrastructure development, making agriculture profitable, women’s
empowerment, development and educational and health facilities, tight law and
order, generation of employment opportunities by inviting investments for
setting up industries and good governance for the poor are directed at making
Madhya Pradesh a pioneer state in the country.
He exhorted the working groups to give priority to generation of employment
opportunities. They should also include mobilisation of additional funds in
their action plan. He suggested that for this purpose, Public-Private
Participation can turn out to be good means. He urged the working groups not
to ignore environmental balance.
Chouhan asked the working groups to prepare their reports as early as
possible. He said that he will take joint and separate meetings of the working
groups after submission of their reports.
All these working groups will continue to submit their reports from time to
time. The budgetary priorities will be set on the basis of reports received by
March next year. This process will continue and if need be, changes will be
made in policies, provisions and processes, the release stated. (pervezbari@eth.net)
