  MBMC submits memorandum to Sibal demanding restoration of minority character of AMU & Jamia Millia Islamia

Bhopal, March 6 (Pervez Bari): The president of the Millat Bedari Muhim Committee, (MBMC), Aligarh Jasim Mohammad met Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal at his residence on Friday and submitted a memorandum demanding restoration of minority character of AMU and Jamia Millia Islamia.
According to a Press release the memorandum also demanded fellowship to the research scholars should be increased from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 10,000. Among other things, Jasim Mohammad pointed out to the minster that students of minorities are lagging behind in the national level competitions and the solution is that the government must establish academics for coaching them.
Talking informally Jasim Mohammad drew the minister’s attention that in Uttar Pradesh schools are not available in minority concentrated areas. He also demanded that courses of Jamia Urdu, Aligarh should be recognized by the UGC, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
Kapil Sibal reportedly assured he will take up the issues seriously. Jasim Mohammad extended an invitation to the minister to address a seminar on Muslim issues organized by MBMC at Aligarh. (pervezbari@eth.net)
