SDPI M.P. Unit PFI to Hold India Wide Protest Demanding Punishment to Culprits in Babri Masjid Demolition

Bhopal, December 05 (Pervez Bari): Popular Front of India, (PFI), has decided to hold a National Awareness Campaign under the caption “Babri Masjid Demands Justice” from tomorrow December 6 to January 30, 2011.

According to a Press release issued by K. M. Shareef, PFI general secretary, the commencing and concluding dates of the campaign, December 6 and January 30 are the most unforgettable days in the history of post-independent India. It was on January 30, 1948 that Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by agents of Hindutva Fascism. While on December 6, 1992 the country witnessed another attack on the secular fabric of the country when the same forces demolished the centuries old Babri Masjid.

Shareef said that during this campaign period December 10 will be observed as “Anti-Terrorism Day” highlighting the theme “Fight Terrorism, Uphold Human Rights”. This campaign is a timely task in the background of the unjust Babri verdict by the Allahabad High Court and the role of RSS in recent explosions as revealed by the investigating agencies. The campaign will include public programs at district level, poster campaigns, Babri Masjid documentary video distribution, seminars in major cities, protest rallies, "Dharnas" (sit-ins) and handbill distributions will be undertaken. Many organizations working among different sections of society will join hands with Popular Front of India in this campaign, he added.
The Press release said that Liberhan Commission was set up following the demolition of the Babri Mosque and the riots in Ayodhya city. The Commission was expected to submit its report within three months but it took seventeen long years to complete its job in this regard. And the Central Government has failed to take action till today. Seventeen years have passed and still the Muslims are waiting for justice regarding Babri Mosque demolition and culprits continue to roam free. "In these circumstances we are going to organize a "Dharna" program at Jantar Mantar premises on Monday on December 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We are inviting Members of Parliament, Journalists, Social Activists, Human Right Activists, Leader of secular political parties, Scholars and community leaders to address this "Dharna", Shareef stated.
Popular Front of India has called upon all the citizens of this country to come forward to establish the right to rebuild Babri Masjid at the same site which is a struggle for fulfilling the ideals of freedom, justice and security in this country, the release concluded. (pervezbari@eth.net)
