Ten Tips That Will Help You Save Big on Your Next
Flight! |
By David Shpitalnik |
1) Try to travel during off peak seasons, where there is less demand for
tickets. Suggested travel times are during: late august, fall, and spring.
2) Try to book flights that depart and arrive on weekdays.
3) Be flexible with your travel dates. It might save you a lot of money.
4) It's often cheaper to buy an air/hotel package then both separately.
5) Search airline sites individually, they might have private sales which they
wont release to the major booking sites.
6) Check fairs often because airfares fluctuate like the stock market, you need
to check them every day, sometimes two or three times a day, if you're serious
about saving money.
7) Search all of the major online agencies for the best deals. Do not assume
that they all will have the same price. Prices can differ by a few hundred
dollars.
8) You no longer have to fly on the legacy carriers, you have a choice. Low cost
airlines such as Southwest, Jet blue, Usa3000, Frontier, Spirit Air, Air Tran,
Midwest, and Allegiant Air have greatly lowered prices in certain markets.
9) Combine two separate fares rather than buying one fare. For example whenever
you are flying to Europe, pick a major airline to fly you to Europe and then
choose a low cost airline to get to your final destination. If you mix and match
you can save a lot of money.
10) Sign up with Yapta. It is a cool website which tracks prices on specific
flights and sends you a "price drop" email if the price lowers. If you purchased
a ticket already, Yapta will notify you if the price drops even lower, since you
may be entitled to a refund or voucher from the airline.
