AIMPLB Calls on Indian Govt. Not
to Toe US Line in Fight Against Terrorism
Moneyed Muslims urged to make forays in media business
By Pervez Bari
Kolkata, March 2: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, (AIMPLB),
has called upon the Government of India not to follow in the
footsteps of United States of America , ( USA ), in its fight
against terrorism. The USA is calling terrorist those very people
to which it had extended patronage against individuals and
governments which it wanted to subdue and overthrow to fulfil its
ulterior motives.
Terrorism should not be seen just as law and order problem but the
government should look into the cause of such activities and see
that those people who are being victimised their genuine demands
are redressed forthwith without any delay.
India is a largest democracy in the world and it should not gamble
with its freedom, honour and good image by hobnobbing with USA and
keep its identity intact as traditional peace loving country
fighting for justice for one and all.
The above call has been made in the “Kolkata Declaration” document
ratified by the general body at the end of the 20th session of the
AIMPLB which concluded here on Sunday.
The declaration expressed dismay at Indian Government over its
approach of instead helping victims is siding with the
perpetrators of crime. It reminded the Government of India that it
is toeing the USA Government line virtually on every issue and
even extending its blind-folded approval to those US policies
which are not based on real facts and figures. The US as
war-monger destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq and is now eyeing Iran
with all its high-handedness which is an open secret, the
declaration stated.
The AIMPLB warned Indian Government to stop its increasing
collaboration with Israel in many field as this Jewish state with
its barbaric approach towards Palestinian people is strengthening
the roots of terrorism. This move of Indian Government which has
been the fore-runner of Non-alignment Movement is deplorable state
of affairs.
The “Kolkata Declaration”, which was read out by Advocate
Abd-ur-Rahim Quraishi, Asstt. Gen. Secretary of AIMPLB, has
appealed the moneyed class among Muslims who are involved in
various business and trade to make forays in the media world and
become part of it in India . They have been urged to take up media
business especially in English and regional languages in print and
electronic media both so as to carry right and true information to
the masses so that the people can see through wrong propaganda and
misunderstandings about Muslims and know the reality.
The AIMPLB condemned of charging Muslim youth of various crimes
without investigations and maltreating them in such a humiliating
manner that even criminals are not meted out such treatment at the
world and national level.
Meanwhile, a massive public meeting presided over by Maulana Syed
Mohammad Rabey Hasani Nadwi, president AIMPLB, was organised here
to mark the end of AIMPLB’s Kolkata session. It was a sea of
humanity at Park Circus ground and real show of strength of Muslim
Ummah as about one lakh people from Kolkata and nearby places to
the metropolis thronged the venue. The vehicular traffic in the
metro went haywire as road blockades in many parts of the city
were reported.
Speaker after speaker at the public meeting exhorting Muslims of
various sects to close ranks forgetting their intra-religious
differences in the face of a planned West conspiracy going on to
divide them on lines of race, creed and caste.
The Muslim clerics and others called upon the Muslims to unite and
exert themselves to present and disseminate the true teachings of
Islam and dispel all misunderstandings deliberately being created
against this religion of truth and for this purpose to socially
interact with non-Muslim Indians.
Earlier in the morning session reports of various committees viz.
“Tahreek Islahi Mash’ara”, cases of Babri Masjid demolition and
title suits, Dar-ul-Qaza, compulsory marriages registration and
cases in various courts relating to Muslim personal laws were
presented.
A number of books published by “Tahreek Islahi Mash’ara” were also
released on the occasion by Maulana Rabey and presented to authors
by him. One such book by in Malyalam entitled “Sthreeyanu Dhanam”
(Woman is Wealth) authored by Zainuddin and published by Kerala
state committee of Islahi Mash’ara headed by E. Abubacker. (pervezbari@eth.net)
