15th
National Conference of Sahodaya CBSE Schools at Bhopal,
Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal, Date: 11th December, Mrs. Avnita Bir, PRINCIPAL,
Podar Educations,Mumbai strongly advocated the need for
educators to make learning for children meaningful, real
and practical by integrating it with real life
experiences.
At the 15th National Conference of Sahodaya CBSE Schools,
Mrs Avnita Bir presented real time case studies of R N
Podar School, Mumbai that are testimony to the reality
that a school with a head, a heart and a soul can be
created and a schooling process be fostered which empowers
students to evolve into individuals in their own right,
with a strong feeling of self-worth.
In the crowded market place we call Life, grades are not
given on the criteria laid out in school; life's report
card is based on a number of things - all of them beyond
academics. Mrs. Bir emphasised the importance of providing
the strong anchor of essential life skills to students at
any early stage, she said.
The presentation she shared with the participants
showcased the Leaves from Life program that her school
conducts which builds leadership skills among students and
also coping with trauma esp after the recent terror attack
in Mumbai. Mrs. Bir also presented new dimensions in
education that can be added by schools by exploring new
creative fields like film making and also integrating
academic disciplines with softer disciplines like music,
thereby creating a renaissance in education.
